Riga Nordic University (RNU) is pleased to announce the launch of its new international scientific journal, Interdisciplinarity in Applied Sciences (IAS), providing a dedicated platform for high-quality research at the intersection of engineering, computer sciences, management, and related applied disciplines.

Zinātnes žurnāla pirmais vāks

The journal is designed to address increasingly complex real-world challenges through interdisciplinary research that combines theories, methods, and approaches from different scientific fields. Its scope covers applied and emerging engineering, sustainable technologies, artificial intelligence and data science, intelligent systems, organizational studies, strategic management, hospitality and service systems, as well as socio-technical and sustainability-oriented research.

“The launch of Interdisciplinarity in Applied Sciences is a meaningful milestone for all of us who have been involved in creating the journal. We started this initiative because we believe that many of today’s scientific challenges cannot be addressed within the boundaries of a single discipline. Our aim is to create a journal where colleagues from different fields can share their research, exchange ideas, and develop meaningful interdisciplinary collaborations.

We see IAS not simply as a new scientific journal, but as a community that we hope to build together with our authors, reviewers, editors, and academic partners. We are proud to launch this initiative and look forward to developing IAS together with our colleagues and the wider international research community.” – Prof. Laila Zemite, Editor-in- Chief IAS, Vice-rector of Riga Nordic University.

IAS follows a double-blind peer-review process, with manuscripts evaluated by two internationally recognized experts following an initial editorial assessment and Similarity Check procedures. The journal aims to provide review results within approximately one month, supporting an efficient and transparent publication process.

The journal operates under an open-access model, making published research freely available online without subscription or access barriers. No publication fees are currently charged to authors. IAS follows a continuous publication model, allowing accepted articles to be published throughout the year rather than waiting for a fixed issue schedule.

The launch of IAS represents another step in Riga Nordic University's development of an international research environment that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and the dissemination of applied scientific knowledge.

Researchers, academics, and practitioners whose work falls within the journal's scope are invited to explore the journal, submission requirements, editorial policies, and opportunities for publication.
