CLARIN-LV successfully reacquires trusted repository status

September 1, 2026

To ensure the successful operation of the CLARIN research infrastructure, each CLARIN member state is required to establish and maintain at least one trustworthy language data repository. The language data repository should provide easy and FAIR-compliant access to language resources and tools, while taking care of data and copyright protection.

To ensure the consistency, stability and interoperability of CLARIN services, the member state repositories are certified every three years. The certificate confirms the stability and sustainability of the repository and is requirement for obtaining the CLARIN technical center or B-center status. The CLARIN-LV repository applied for re-certification in the fall of 2025, and this spring CLARIN-LV was re-awarded the CoreTrustSeal (CTS) certificate. CLARIN-LV remains the only repository in Latvia to hold the CTS certification.

There are strict criteria to become a CLARIN B-centre. The CTS certificate is one of requirements for obtaining the CLARIN B-Center status, which for the CLARIN-LV repository has been now extended till Spring, 2029. The metadata from the CLARIN-LV repository is being harvested by both, the CLARIN Virtual Language Observatory (VLO ) and the Latvian DataverseLV repository. It has also recently been included in the European Open Science Cloud platform EOSC Data Commons.
