The Conference "Long-term environmental and ecological research in Latvia"

At the conference "Long-term environmental and ecological research in Latvia", organised by the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences of the University of Latvia, which took place on March 20, 2026, 7 oral presentations were given.

The conference was attended by 14 participants in person and 7 remotely, representing the University of Latvia, Daugavpils University, the Latvian State Forestry Institute “Silava” and the Nature Conservation Board. The conference participants were informed about the achievements in the eLTER projects, which officially end in 2026. The functional structure of the European-level eLTER ERIC management, data collection, analysis and modeling tools have been developed, and work on the research methodology manual is nearing completion. Work on the eLTER ERIC cyber infrastructure will continue still in 2027. Calculations of the eLTER ERIC operating costs as well as member state accession contributions have been made. 10 member states already have received agreement from their leading ministries to join elTER ERIC. The participants were informed about the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science project, which envisages a series of training seminars organized to expand the eLTER Latvia consortium, which will be led by the University of Latvia, and is planned to begin in 2026.
