Academic Branch

To provide an opportunity for a wider range of interested parties to gain academic knowledge and be inspired by informative lectures, RTU Liepāja Academy is launching a new series of events, "Academic Branch", which will begin on November 1 and will take place in person at RTU Liepāja Academy, Lielā iela 14, Great Hall.

The first to give readings will be RTU Liepāja Academy Acting Director Dace Medne and Latvian Academy of Arts Associate Professor Egons Peršēvics.

Dr.paed. Dace Medne will present in her lecture "Mystical Thinking in Modern Society or Why People Believe in Various Fallacies Even Today" why critical thinking is still a challenge even in the age of technology. In turn, sculptor Art.D. Egons Peršēvics will talk about art as a form of storytelling, a way to create, document and transfer knowledge in her lecture "Mythology". The artist will provide insight into the synergy of mythology and art, using both his artistic experience and examples from art history.

The first event is planned for November 1st at 11:00–13:00. Admission is free with prior registration.

The "Academic Brunch" event series is intended as regular meetings on Saturday mornings for readings and informal conversations over coffee and light snacks. The theme will change each time, providing the public with an opportunity to explore engaging topics.
