Conference on Innovative Science-Based Solutions for Soil Improvement in Agriculture, Crop Production and Horticulture

The Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry is organising an informative conference on 3 December on innovative science-based solutions for soil improvement in agriculture, crop production and horticulture.

The conference will present the latest research on soil improvement using microbiological and plant-based preparations. The aim of the conference is to introduce the wider public to research carried out in Latvia that has practical applications in sustainable agriculture.

The conference is open to everyone interested. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to meet the project implementers, ask questions and discuss how the developed solutions can be used in practice.

Among the projects presented at the conference will also be several studies implemented and coordinated by the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC). At the conference, LSIWC will present the results of the Subt4Potato project, demonstrating the potential of microbiological preparations in potato cultivation. At the same time, information will also be provided on the development of environmentally friendly plant protection products and soil additives from forestry biomass, as well as on the creation of a biodegradable sprayable mulch for sustainable weed control. The conference will also present a project on the use of innovative prebiotics in poultry farming and crop production to achieve climate neutrality, in the implementation of which LSIWC researchers are also involved.

The event is being organised within the framework of the project “Obtaining and Applying a Microbiological Preparation to Increase Productivity in Horticultural and Crop Production Farms (Subt4Potato)”. The programme will present fifteen projects funded by the Rural Support Service.
