Join us on March 25, 11:00–12:00 (Riga time) for a webinar “Experiences from Twinning Projects” organised by the University of Latvia and the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis. Dr. Raivis Zalubovskis (Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis) and Dr. Gunita Zarina (Institute of Latvian History, Faculty of Humanities, University of Latvia) will share their experience in participating in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Twinning projects.
Raivis Zalubovskis obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2006 from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and has been working at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS) since 1994. Since 2013, he is the Head of the Applied Chemistry Group at LIOS. Raivis Zalubovskis is also a Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at Riga Technical University. He has extensive experience in participating in project calls under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes.
During the event, Raivis Zalubovskis will share insights gained from preparing the proposal for the Horizon 2020 Twinning project “Springboard for Excellence in Advanced Development of Antibacterials” (SPRINGBOARD, No. 951883), as well as from coordinating the implementation of this project during the period from 2020 to 2024.
Gunita Zarina is a Principal Investigator and Head of the Bioarchaeological Materials Repository at the Institute of Latvian History, Faculty of Humanities, University of Latvia. Her research interests include bioarchaeology, studies of the demography, diet, health, and quality of life of ancient populations in Latvia, the role of women in society across different historical periods, the application of natural science methods in the study of the formation of the Latvian people and ethnological processes, as well as research on ancient DNA and stable isotopes of chemical elements in archaeological materials.
Gunita Zarina has experience as a project leader and Principal Investigator in more than 20 projects since 1993, including international projects, ERDF projects, Latvian Council of Science grants, interdisciplinary projects, and projects under the National Research Programme.
In the seminar, Gunita Zarina will provide an overview of the participation of the Institute of Latvian History of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Latvia in the Twinning project coordinated by the University of Tartu, “Expanding Concept and Methodology for Human Past Studies in the Eastern Baltic Countries” (ECHO, No. 101159883, 2024–2027).
