Functional, safe, comfortable: clothing ergonomics for professional needs

On August 27 at 2:00 p.m., the Riga Technical University (RTU) Personal Protective Equipment Laboratory is organising a practical seminar "Functional, safe, comfortable: clothing ergonomics for professional needs". During the seminar, scientists, together with participants, will identify the biggest challenges and look for solutions to them.

Participation in the seminar is free of charge. Participants will receive an RTU continuing education certificate.

The RTU Personal Protective Equipment Laboratory is the only laboratory in Latvia for testing and evaluating a wide range of personal protective equipment, textiles and textile products. Its equipment – ​​around 80 different devices – is unique at the global level. The laboratory is accredited to perform physical, chemical, microbiological and mechanical testing of fiber materials and textile products. It provides high-level testing services for the certification of personal protective equipment, performs objective and independent testing of textiles and textile products and interpretation of results, as well as professional expertise in accordance with Latvian, European and international regulatory enactments and standards. It also conducts anthropometric and ergonomic tests and research, as well as develops new technologies, sustainable and ergonomic materials and products.

The laboratory's scientific staff has extensive experience in cooperation with textile industry companies in Latvia and around the world, as well as representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Service, healthcare, the State Border Guard, the National Armed Forces, the State Revenue Service, as well as professional sports, improving uniforms, researching and developing innovative personal protective equipment, and developing methods for improving the ergonomics of clothing.

The Personal Protective Equipment Laboratory was established and is headed by Professor Inga Dāboliņa.
