The governments of the Republic of Latvia and the United States of America will sign an agreement on cooperation in the fields of research and technology

An agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Latvia and the United States of America in cooperation on the fields of research and technology will be signed at the Design Technology Center of Riga Technical University, Ķipsalas Street 6, in the "Moon" Hall at 1pm on September 4, 2024. The document will be signed of the Ministry of Education and Science by Anda Čakša and the US Ambassador in Latvia Christopher Robinson.

The currently valid agreement signed on July 6, 1994 between the governments of the United States of America and the Republic of Latvia in cooperation on the fields of research and technology was concluded before Latvia became a member of the European Union.

During these 30 years, Latvia has taken a huge step in the development of research and technology, and Latvian research institutions and universities cooperate with universities and researchers in the USA, solving today's global challenges. Scientific discoveries, new technologies and the use of innovative knowledge are essential to promote the well-being of citizens and provide opportunities in various areas of society, such as health, the environment and national security.

The cooperation between researchers and entrepreneurs contributes to the growth of the innovative economy in both countries, creating new jobs and strengthening global competitiveness. The agreement will promote the opportunities of Latvian researchers and innovative entrepreneurs and will be a new step in the cooperation between the two countries in the field of research, technology, education and innovation.
