International Conference «5th Teaming Club Conference 2026»
About event
From 23 to 25 September, Riga Technical University (RTU) and the Baltic Biomaterials Centre of Excellence (BBCE) will organise the “5th Teaming Club Conference 2026” at the RTU auditorium centre “Domus Auditorialis”, Zunda krastmala 8 – an international conference bringing together leaders of European centres of excellence, universities, research organisations, entrepreneurs, and other participants in the innovation ecosystem.
The conference will bring together representatives from nearly 50 centres of excellence whose activities have been developed through the “Teaming for Excellence” initiatives under the European Union’s (EU) research and innovation programmes “Horizon 2020” and “Horizon Europe”.
The conference motto, “Connect. Collaborate. Create Impact.”, reflects the three-day programme dedicated to knowledge exchange, international networking activities, and the creation of new cooperation opportunities. Participants will be able to take part in expert presentations and discussions on research excellence, innovation, industry partnerships, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, biotechnology, digital technologies, and other topical fields.
The conference will include discussions on the future of European research and innovation. Francesca Cervelli, a research and technological development policy officer at the European Commission, will share her perspective on the opportunities and challenges of “Horizon Europe” for 2028–2034, while Member of the European Parliament Ivars Ījabs will provide insight into the next EU research programming period. Minna Wilkki, Head of the Future Society Department at the European Research Executive Agency, will address the use of artificial intelligence in project preparation and evaluation, while Anita Straujuma, Executive Director of the RTU Development Fund, and Liene Briede, Vice-Rector for Innovation, will share Latvia’s experience of industry partnerships and the role of the innovation ecosystem in growth.
The conference will also include participant-led sessions, as well as B2B meetings between representatives of the centres of excellence.
On 25 September, Latvian companies and research organisations will have a special opportunity to meet individually with potential European cooperation partners to develop joint research and development projects and “Horizon Europe” project applications, advance new technologies, and expand their international cooperation networks.
RTU invites Latvian entrepreneurs to familiarise themselves with the brief profiles of participating organisations before the conference and to contact research and innovation partners of interest in advance, as proactively initiated discussions can become the basis for new international partnerships and joint projects.
Participation in the networking activities on 25 September is free of charge for local research organisations, researchers, and companies, but the number of places is limited. More information.
The conference is organised by RTU and BBCE, with support from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the Ministry of Education and Science. The conference is supported by the European Union’s “Horizon 2020” research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 857287.
BBCE is a unique centre of excellence in the Baltic region for the research and development of new biomaterials for bone tissue regeneration, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, and other fields.
