The conference is organised by Valmiera Museum and the Institute of Latvian History at the University of Latvia in cooperation with partners in Lithuania and Estonia.

Admission is free, and prior registration is not required.

On the first day of the conference, presentations will be delivered in English. Young researchers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Spain and Azerbaijan will focus on the political and social history of Latvia and the post-Soviet region in the 20th and 21st centuries. The presentations will address the interwar period and Latvia’s international relations, the period of Soviet occupation, and the changes that followed the collapse of the USSR.

On 6 November, presentations will be delivered in Latvian, focusing on the history of Latvia from the earliest times to the second half of the 20th century, including archaeology, medieval and early modern history, the interwar period and the period of Soviet occupation.

During the conference, the previous year’s collection of articles, “Scientific Readings of Young Historians XI”, will be launched. The Scientific Readings of Young Historians is an annual tradition that will take place in Valmiera for the 12th time. The conference has become a platform for young historians, enabling them to share the results of their research and develop their professional and academic skills.
