International Open Access Week

International Open Access Week is an annual global event that highlights the importance of open science and the opportunities it creates for research and society. This year, from 19 to 25 October, a variety of events will take place in Latvia, across Europe, and around the world, inviting everyone interested to learn more, share experiences, and engage in discussions about open science.

The University of Latvia (UL) Library and the OpenAIRE National Open Access Desk (https://www.napd.lu.lv/), in cooperation with the UL Department of Science, UL Data Curators, and other partners, invite staff of Latvian higher education institutions and research organisations, researchers, doctoral students, professionals involved in research coordination and support functions, librarians, and all other interested participants to explore this year’s programme of events.

During the week, participants will have the opportunity to examine and discuss open access publishing opportunities and support mechanisms, issues related to artificial intelligence, as well as the role of research infrastructures and the latest developments in the field.

PROGRAMME AND REGISTRATION

Interactive Story: “Uncover the Mystery of Open Science!”

The UL Library and the UL Department of Science invite participants to find answers to six questions covering various open science topics, collect code digits, and unlock the final door to uncover the mystery of open science.

Along the way, participants will be able to test their knowledge and learn more about open science, open access, research data, and other topical issues. The mystery will remain available after the end of Open Access Week, but those who participate by 25 October will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw. Five lucky participants will have the chance to win one of five University of Latvia themed mugs.
