Introduction to Data Pseudonymization and Anonymisation
About event
We invite academic researchers and students of the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technology to participate in an online seminar on data pseudonymisation and anonymisation, what these processes entail, and how to implement them. The seminar will take place on March 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interested parties are invited to register in advance using this link.
The seminar will cover the following topics: personal data and its minimisation spectrum, pseudonymisation, insight into pseudonymisation methods, anonymisation, parameters characterising anonymisation, insight into anonymisation methods, as well as the basic principles of safe use of artificial intelligence in data processing.
The seminar aims to provide academic researchers with practical knowledge of personal data protection methods and their application in research. To provide an understanding of the methods to be used to ensure data protection requirements.
After the seminar, participants are expected to be informed about the principles of data minimisation and the differences between pseudonymisation and anonymisation, the advantages and disadvantages of each method, the main methods of pseudonymisation and anonymisation and their suitability for different situations, the assessment of the quality of anonymisation using characteristic parameters, and the basic principles of safe use of artificial intelligence tools when working with sensitive research data.
Riga Stradins University Data Curator Līna Lāže will lead the seminar.
