Knowledge and Safety in 2024

Face-to-face event
About event

On September 7, in the sports complex of Riga Center Humanitarian Secondary School, Krišjāņa Barona street 116A from 1pm to 6pm, the free interactive educational event Knowledge and safety 2024 will take place, where health care students and doctors of Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) will provide children and their parents with knowledge about how to act in an accident, prevention of everyday injuries and a healthy lifestyle.

In the event "Knowledge and safety 2024" you can visit ten stations (for example, first aid, safety in nature, in the city, indoors, on water, by fire). There will be an opportunity to learn more about a safe and favorable environment for children's growth, healthy nutrition and psycho-emotional health. By visiting the stations and participating in the activities and games created, children will have fun, increase their knowledge and take advantage of the Knowledge and Safety 2024 supporter prizes.

According to the data of the Ministry of Health, child trauma in Latvia is at a high level, therefore it is important to increase public knowledge about the risk factors of injury and their prevention. The most common reasons for injuries are jumping on a trampoline, careless cycling and not using protective equipment. In May 2023, 52 children suffered various injuries on the trampoline.

Statistics show that children under the age of one year are injured in 90% of cases at home due to parental carelessness or an unsafe environment. It is important to refresh your knowledge about what can make children's lives safer and better, thus avoiding not only trips to the hospital (hospital visit), but also the experienced stress for both the child and the parents.

Families with children are welcome at the event to spend time in a nice and educational atmosphere, making the child's everyday life safer in the long term.
