Look at the Future of Mobility 2025
About event
On 27 November, the third international conference on sustainable future transport and mobility — “Look at the Future of Mobility 2025” — will take place at Riga Technical University’s (RTU) auditorium centre “Domus Auditorialis”, Zunda krastmala 8.
This year, the conference will focus on supply chain security, infrastructure industrialisation, and the use of alternative energy resources in transport. It will bring together policy makers, entrepreneurs, scientists, and students.
Participation in the conference is free of charge. Register now.
Given the current geopolitical challenges, there is an increasing need to strengthen civil-military logistics competence — in crisis situations and their management, cooperation, rapid response, and resource accessibility play a crucial role, emphasises Ingūna Jurgelāna-Kaldava, Associate Professor at RTU Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management’s Institute of Governance and Security, and one of the conference organisers. She has initiated the inclusion of civil-military logistics specialisation in study programmes.
Experts from various fields will analyse different aspects of security — from safe transport infrastructure to reliable supply chains, which directly affect the availability of vital goods and services, such as food and energy products, even in critical situations.
Energy diversification and the use of alternative resources are also essential for long-term national economic security, notes Justīna Hudenko, Associate Professor and co-organiser of the conference. She will draw attention to energy development in the heavy transport sector.
Participants will also learn about hydrogen applications in freight transport, insights on charging and refuelling infrastructure, sustainable aviation fuel regulations, and the raw material dilemma on the road to climate neutrality.
The conference will also highlight the Liepāja Sustainable Industry Centre project, which includes major investment initiatives to position Liepāja as a central player in the Baltic region’s green energy and innovation sectors. Participants will also explore Riga Port’s industrialisation process and join roundtable discussions on the synergy between transport and industrialisation.
Speakers include Andulis Židkovs (State Secretary, Ministry of Transport), Aivars Puriņš (State Secretary, Ministry of Defence), Andris Kulbergs (Member of Parliament), Ilze Āboliņa (Head of Jelgava Digital Centre), Vladimirs Voicehovskis (Head of RSU Military Medicine Academic Group), journalist Pauls Timrots, Ansis Zeltiņš (CEO of the Freeport of Riga Authority), and Uldis Hmieļevskis (CEO, Liepāja SEZ Authority).
Industry representatives will also participate, including Rinalds Pļavnieks (Member of the Board, SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš”), Jānis Kisiels (Board Member, LSEZ Ltd “NorSAF”), Krišs Lipšāns (Board Member, “Auto Association”), and others.
The conference will be opened by RTU Rector Tālis Juhna and moderated by Normunds Krūmiņš, Chairman of the Latvian Logistics Association.
After each session, roundtable discussions will follow, offering excellent networking opportunities with industry experts.
