Online Seminar Introducing EMBL and EMBO
About event
NIRI invites researchers, science professionals, and other representatives of the scientific community to an online seminar introducing the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
Representatives of EMBL and EMBO will provide an overview of the organisations’ missions, activities, and contribution to life sciences research in Europe and beyond.
The seminar will include an introduction to EMBL by Plamena Markova, an overview of EMBO activities and fellowship opportunities by Fiona Watt, a presentation on EMBL Core Facilities by Vladimir Benes, and information about the EMBL Visitor Programme by Aditya Sankar. Participants will also learn about EMBL training opportunities and have an opportunity to ask questions and take part in a discussion.
The event is intended for researchers, science professionals, and other representatives of scientific fields who are interested in learning more about EMBL and EMBO and the opportunities they offer to the scientific community.

NIRI is implementing Project No. 1.1.1.5/3/24/I/006, “Development of Latvia’s Research Potential by Strengthening the Integration of the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre into European Research Infrastructures and Scientific Networks,” on the basis of the “Action Plan of the Latvian National Contact Point for the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL),” approved by the Ministry of Education and Science on 16 December 2024.
