On March 18, 2025, at 16:00, the opening event of the 12th (XXXII) volume of the LNB Scientific Papers, titled “Tuvlasījums – tāllasījums” (Close Reading – Distant Reading), will take place in the “Retumu pasaules” room (5th floor) of the National Library of Latvia (LNB). The event will also feature a discussion on research methods in the humanities.
The discussion “Research Trajectories: Focus and Panorama” will include contributors to the volume Elza Ungure, Mārtiņš Mintaurs, Angelika Juško-Štekele, and Jānis Oga. The discussion will be led by the responsible editors of the 12th volume of the LNB Scientific Papers, Anda Baklāne, Head of the LNB Digital Research Services, and Eva Eglāja-Kristsone, Director of the Institute of Literature, Folklore, and Art at the University of Latvia.
The 12th (XXXII) volume of the LNB Scientific Papers, “Tuvlasījums – tāllasījums,” combines the results of two national research program projects. It includes studies on Latvian literature, criticism, popular culture, publishing, literary activism, and writers’ organizations from the late 19th century to the present day. The volume also examines the digital cultural heritage collections in the 21st century. The publication aims to showcase diverse research perspectives and create synergy between traditional and digital research methods.
The design of the publication was created by Anete Krūmiņa, and the literary editor is Sigita Kušnere. It was printed in the Jelgava printing house.
The LNB Scientific Papers is a peer-reviewed continuation publication, one of the longest-running periodicals in the humanities and social sciences in Latvia and the Baltic states (published since 1964). Since 2022, the publication has been indexed in the Scopus database.
The publication will be available for purchase from the opening day at the LNB shop “Draugu telpa” and at eveikals.lnb.lv.
