Opening of the Science Calendar "Research Latvia 2026"

The researchLatvia science communication brand, created by the Ministry of Education and Science, aims to promote the international visibility of Latvia’s research and its achievements.

In 2026, state scientific institutes received the Member of researchLatvia recognition for their contribution to strengthening the Latvian Research Area. The initiative enhances Latvia’s international competitiveness and supports an environment where research and innovation are primary drivers toward a knowledge society:

• February – Ph. D. Edgars Kuka, Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry;
• March – doktora grāda kandidāte Mg. med. vet. Žanete Šteingolde, Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR";
• April – Dr. biol. Monta Brīvība, Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre;
• May – Ph. D.  Edgars Butanovs, Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia;
• June – Ph. D. Jānis Ozoliņš, Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia;
• July – Dr.  agr.  Līga Lepse, Institute of Horticulture;
• August – Mg. soc. sci. Ieva Leimane, Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics;
• September – Ph. D.  Jānis Ārents, Institute of Electronics and Computer Science;
• October – Dr. chem. Gints Šmits, National Institute of Research and Innovation(Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis);
• November – Mg. sc. comp. Baiba Kaškina, Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvias;
• December– Dr. silv. Dagnija Lazdiņa, Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava".
