Professor Māris Turks Will Open the New Season of RTU Academic Readings

About event

The Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of Riga Technical University (RTU), Professor Māris Turks, will open the new season of RTU academic lectures with an academic lecture "Nitrogen and Us" on October 7 at 4:30 p.m.

Academician M. Turks will introduce the chemical element nitrogen, the diversity of its derivatives and its importance in everyday life, as well as provide an insight into the research of scientists from the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology of RTU into the chemistry of nitrogen heterocycles.

The lecture will take place at Āzenes Street 12/1, in auditorium 116. Interested parties will also be able to follow the lecture online on the MS Teams platform (meeting ID: 340 935 562 914 0; access code: Tu7mE2LA).

For academics to be able to pass on their knowledge capital and experience to younger colleagues and students, as well as to promote mutual exchange of ideas and discussions on current issues in various scientific fields, last academic year RTU established a new tradition – to regularly, once a month, organise public lectures by RTU academics on various topics.

Participation in academic lectures is free of charge and requires prior registration.

The RTU Academic Council is a consultative institution in which all academics and corresponding members of the Latvian Academy of Sciences who are currently or previously working at RTU can participate. It was established to allow academics to express their opinions and share their experiences. So far, the RTU Academic Council has mainly worked to provide recommendations to the RTU management for improving the quality of studies, mainly for improving the study content in mathematics, physics and chemistry.
