Professor Paul Craig to Deliver a Guest Lecture at the Academy of Justice

On 16 October at 11.00, European Union (EU) law scholar and Emeritus Professor at the University of Oxford Paul Craig will deliver the guest lecture “EU Values: Scope, Application and Impact” at the Academy of Justice. The lecture will be particularly useful for practitioners, as it will explain what putting EU values into practice means and how this affects the application of law.
Following Professor P. Craig’s lecture, a discussion on the issues raised during the lecture will take place with legal experts from the Baltic States: Jolita Miliuvienė, Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at Mykolas Romeris University and Lithuanian Ombudsperson; Dr iur. Carri Ginter, Associate Professor of EU Law at the University of Tartu and partner at Sorainen; and Katrīne Pļaviņa-Mika, doctoral student at the University of Latvia and sworn advocate at Sorainen, LL.M. (Georgetown). The discussion will be moderated by Anda Smiltēna, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice for Legal Policy.
Professor P. Craig’s guest lecture will be introduced with opening remarks by Laila Medina, Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union.
The guest lecture and discussion will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation into Latvian.
