Quantum Tic-Tac-Toe Teacher Training Workshop
About event
Primary and secondary school teachers are invited to join a one-day Quantum Tic-Tac-Toe (QXOX) Teacher Training Workshop on March 11, 2026 (09:00–16:00) at the University of Latvia.
This interactive workshop introduces a simple, classroom-ready game that makes quantum superposition intuitive and engaging — no prior background in quantum physics required.
This one-day professional development workshop introduces teachers to Quantum Tic-Tac-Toe (QXOX) as an innovative and accessible way to explore quantum superposition and core quantum concepts in school settings.
The training is designed primarily for STEM, informatics, mathematics, and science teachers, as well as educators from related disciplines who are interested in integrating contemporary quantum topics into their teaching.
No prior background in quantum physics is required.
Participants will:
- Gain an intuitive understanding of quantum superposition
- Explore simplified photonic experiments and mathematical interpretations
- Learn to implement and facilitate Quantum Tic-Tac-Toe (QXOX) in their classrooms
- Participate in a mini-tournament experience
- Discuss pedagogical strategies and best practices
- Join a growing network of teachers engaging with quantum education initiatives
Participation is free of charge. Teachers will implement the activity with at least 40 students (or two classes) and contribute to World Quantum Day initiatives.
The workshop will be conducted in English, with Latvian-language support available. The game is available in both English and Latvian.
