Summer School of the Latvian Association of Young Researchers

The Latvian Association of Young Researchers (LJZA) invites participants to reflect on the role of science and early-career researchers in the national development strategy “Latvia 2050”.

The Latvian Association of Young Researchers’ Summer School will take place from 20 to 23 August. The first day of the event will be dedicated to jointly defining the mission of science in strengthening national prosperity, culture and security. Summer School participants will have the opportunity to attend thematic lectures:

• What Is the Role of a Scientist in Building Public Trust? (Dr hist. Gatis Krūmiņš)

• Latvia 2050: Transformative Resilience – What to Expect and How to Prepare for Future Challenges (Dr sc. soc. Inta Mieriņa)

  In exploring the unique place of doctoral students and early-career researchers in future scenarios, the day will conclude with the panel discussion “Latvia 2050: Science and the Early-Career Researcher”. The discussion will be moderated by Oskars Teikmanis, Chair of the Board of the Latvian Association of Young Researchers, and will feature:

• Inta Mieriņa, sociologist and tenured professor at the University of Latvia
• Vineta Silkāne, Professor of Social Psychology at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
• Gatis Krūmiņš, historian and leading researcher at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences
