Theatre Sustainability Forum "STAGES"
About event
The international forum "STAGES", which will bring together theatre and performing arts professionals, policymakers, cultural workers and researchers from all over Europe, will take place on 5–6 November in Riga, at the Daile Theatre. The focus of the forum will be the integration of sustainable development into the cultural sector, as well as the role of theatre in an era where social and environmental challenges require bold changes.
The forum is part of the "STAGES" (Sustainable Theatre Alliance for a Green Environmental Shift) project, which brings together 14 theatre and academic institutions from Europe and Asia. It is an ambitious, sustainable theatre experiment to explore how culture and performing arts can develop in accordance with the principles of sustainability and future challenges. The forum will provide an opportunity to get to know the solutions proposed by the "STAGES" project and discuss their applicability on a wider scale.
The program includes:
• Discussions, lectures and working groups on the impact of culture in the context of sustainability and societal change • Experience stories from international theatre professionals and researchers • Review of Latvian theatre performances
The full programme of the forum can be found on the website.
ℹ️ The forum is organised by Riga Technical University (RTU) in collaboration with Daile Theatre, ETC. The "STAGES" project is co-financed by the European Union. The forum will be held in English.
