Workshop on the potential of AI and social sciences in preserving Ukraine’s cultural heritage

On 16 June at 17:00, a practical workshop will take place at the University of Latvia, with the aim of analysing the potential use of artificial intelligence and social sciences in specific scenarios identified within the framework of the project, based on the experience of Ukraine’s heritage sector in recent years.
The seminar is organised by the Centre for Digital Humanities of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia in cooperation with the University of Latvia Library within the framework of the Erasmus+ funded AISTER project.
Doctoral and master’s students of the University of Latvia and other higher education institutions, as well as specialists in Latvia’s cultural heritage sector, are invited to participate in the seminar.
The seminar will take place at Kalpaka Boulevard 4, in the conference hall on the 1st floor.
During the workshop, participants will analyse and evaluate specific use scenarios and possible solutions based on the experience of Ukraine’s cultural heritage sector.
Registration is open until 12 June by filling in the application form.
The aim of the AISTER project is to develop new methods for preserving cultural heritage in emergency situations by using artificial intelligence technologies and a social science approach, as well as to integrate the newly created knowledge into higher education programmes and the work of heritage communities.
The project partners are the University of Luxembourg (project coordinator), the University of Latvia, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Web2Learn (Greece), and the European digital library Europeana.
