Every year on 10 November, the World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated, established by UNESCO to highlight the vital role of science in ensuring the sustainability of society.

In line with the goals set by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Science Day for Peace and Development calls to:

  • Strengthen public understanding of the importance of science in building peaceful and sustainable societies;

  • Promote national and international cooperation through knowledge sharing and by strengthening a common research space;

  • Reaffirm the commitment to use science for the benefit of society – both nationally and globally;

  • Draw attention to the challenges faced by science;

  • Encourage support for research activities.
