Youth Opportunities Festival “KOPUMS”

Face-to-face event
About event

On 12 August 2026, Rēzekne will become a place where young people’s energy, ideas, and future opportunities come together at the youth opportunities festival “Kopums”.

On this summer day, a special atmosphere will prevail in the heart of the city, on the picturesque hillfort, where young people from all over Latvia will gather to be inspired, create, and experience. “Kopums” is not just a festival; it is a place where new ideas, collaborations, and opportunities begin.

You can look forward to the opportunity to discover various youth organisations, creative workshops, think tanks, discussions, and activities that encourage you to think, take action, and get involved. The festival will be particularly valuable both for young people who are searching for their path and inspiration and for youth workers, as a place to exchange experiences, establish new contacts, and grow professionally.

The Research Latvia project and the Latvian Council of Science will also participate in the event with their own tent. Young people will have the opportunity to observe scientists at work by experimenting with pH, or acidity, in beverages. There will also be a tasting bar where visitors will be able to sample researcher Liene Jansone’s non-alcoholic beverages made from by-products of apple, Japanese quince, and Northern European berry processing. (Postdoctoral research project 1.1.1.9/LZP/2/25/212, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, In-depth functional evaluation of apple, Japanese quince, and Northern European berry pomace vinegars and their adaptation for the development of new products)

Professor and linguist Sanita Martena will offer the activity “Me and My Languages.” It will include a discussion and practical activities for young people about languages and their varieties within the family, identity formation, and the influence of physical and digital spaces on it. During the discussion, the professor will also invite participants to talk about less commonly used regional languages and their vitality.

In addition, young people will also have the opportunity to take part in several other practical and exciting activities at our tent!

“Kopums” is a significant event for the whole of Latvia; it demonstrates the strength, creativity, and potential of young people. In 2026, when Rēzekne is the Latvian Youth Capital, this festival will become one of the highlights of the year.

See you on 12 August at the place where the future comes together.
