The Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) announces the annual competition "Most Significant Scientific Achievements in Latvia in 2024," which will take place for the twenty-third time this year.

Institutes, universities, and colleges registered in the Ministry of Education and Science's Scientific Institutions Register, as well as LAS members, are eligible to submit applications for the competition.

The application consists of a public section that includes the title of the work, the name of the institution, and a description of the work presented in an understandable way for a broader audience, not exceeding 800 characters. The non-published section of the application may include a brief annotation with additional information about the content of the work and its representation in scientific literature, patents, monographs, and elsewhere.

Applications for the competition must be sent to the email address sasniegumi@lza.lv by December 4 of this year by 5:00 PM.

The received applications will be evaluated by the end of December. The list of the year's most significant scientific achievements will be approved and announced by the LAS Presidium.

The annual competition "Most Significant Achievements in Science" is organized by the Latvian Academy of Sciences to recognize national scientific excellence and increase the visibility of Latvian scientists. Since 2002, the results of the competition have been available in Latvian in the Science Achievement Competition section on the LAS website. For the competition regulations in Latvian, see here.
