On 1 June 2025, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) launched the project “RSU Participation in the Horizon Europe Programme” (Project No. 1.1.1.5/3/25/I/014) (hereinafter – the Project). Within the framework of this initiative, one of Latvia’s new ERIC national partnership and action plans will be implemented – Latvia’s integration into the European Translational Research Infrastructure (EATRIS ERIC).

This marks an essential step in expanding Latvia’s participation in European strategic research infrastructures. EATRIS ERIC is an intergovernmental organisation that unites resources and services for research communities to translate scientific discoveries into solutions that benefit patients.

The EATRIS research infrastructure offers a wide range of services to both academia and industry across various research fields. In addition, it cooperates with national funding bodies, charitable organisations, and policymakers to implement targeted activities aimed at strengthening the translational research and innovation ecosystem.

EATRIS was established in 2013 and currently brings together more than 150 research institutes and universities from 15 member states. Since August 2023, Latvia has been a full member of EATRIS ERIC.

This Project will make a significant contribution to the development of healthcare innovations in Latvia by promoting the integration of science and medicine and fostering Latvia’s inclusion in the European Research and Innovation Area. The initiative will provide information on specific opportunities, facilitate the signing of cooperation memoranda, and share practical examples.
