The new monthly newsletter “TOGETHER ABOUT SCIENCE” has been created to strengthen science communication, collaboration, and mutual support within Latvia’s scientific community. This electronic newsletter will compile the latest information on science policy developments, research programmes and projects, scientific achievements, collaboration initiatives, and other significant events in Latvia’s research landscape.

The creators of the newsletter are the science communication platform researchLatvia, created by the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Latvian Science Council (LZP).

"Collaboration between scientists and institutions, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience, is the foundation of a strong and sustainable society. The newsletter "TOGETHER ABOUT SCIENCE" will offer the opportunity to learn the latest news each month while also encouraging discussions about plans," says Baiba Švāne-Upmale, Project Manager for International Cooperation and Research at the Ministry of Education and Science  Department of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

Lauma Mužniece, Director of the LZP, emphasises: "It is essential that we can see together what matters most to each of us – new opportunities in science, achieved results, and ideas we can realise together. This newsletter will strengthen our shared understanding that each of our contributions fosters scientific growth and Latvia’s development. Latvia can succeed when we know, collaborate, and purposefully move towards new achievements."

The aim of “TOGETHER ABOUT SCIENCE” is to provide Latvia’s research community with centralised access to the latest updates and practical information, making it easier to navigate developments in the sector and strengthen professional connections.

Subscribers will receive a summary of the latest updates on the second Thursday of each month. You can sign up to receive the newsletter by email via the LZP website.

The first issue of “TOGETHER ABOUT SCIENCE” in Latvian is already available online, and the editors invite everyone interested to contribute content by sharing news, achievements, and suggestions for topics to be covered, by writing to zinatne@izm.gov.lv

The newsletter “TOGETHER ABOUT SCIENCE” has been created as part of the MES project No. 1.1.1.1/1/24/I/001 “More Effective and Smarter Implementation and Management of Latvia’s Science Policy.”
