Description
The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science is a Latvian scientific center that studies electronics, information technology and artificial intelligence, creating innovative solutions.

We will offer a variety of activities:

  • Demonstration of a bimodal palm biometrics system
  • Opportunity to view EDI’s self-driving cars (with a chance for lucky participants to take a ride)
  • Demonstration of a quantum sensor
  • Game: "Beat the Neural Network"
  • Try out virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) glasses
  • Presentation of an AI-based conveyor robotics system
  • Presentation: “Deep Learning and Synthetic Data”
  • Guided tour of the robotics laboratory, taking place every hour (at 17:30, 18:30, 19:30, and 20:30)
  • Game: "Guess the Technology"
  • Opportunity for event participants to color and draw images related to EDI’s fields of work
  • Various logic puzzles and prizes
  • Small “cinema room” where you can watch a video dedicated to EDI’s 65th anniversary
  • Learn how to receive financial support and training for digital product development together with scientists via the Latvian Digital Accelerator

N.B!: Separate daytime school group tours will not be organized.

Event language: There will be no separate activities organized in English, but participants will be able to ask questions in English during the event.

Transport: Public transport: Trolleybuses 4, 12, 34, and bus 21 (stop “Dzērbenes iela”), trolleybus 16 (stop “Linezers”), or tram 1 (stop “Krustabaznīcas iela”). Private transport: Free parking available on Aizkraukles iela.

EDI was founded in 1960 and is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year! The Institute conducts fundamental and applied research in the following areas: ultra-precise event timing, remote sensing and space data processing, robotics and machine perception, signal processing and embedded intelligence, smart sensors, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

EDI’s goal is to become a recognized research center in Europe in the fields of electronics, computer science, information technologies, and related engineering disciplines.
