RTU Liepāja Academy

RTU Liepāja Academy develops research focused on people and the environment, combining pedagogy, social welfare, technology, entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, language, and design in its experiments.

At European Researchers’ Night, RTU Liepāja Academy invites visitors on an exciting journey where science, technology, culture, and creativity come together!

Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in practical and creative activities under the guidance of the academy’s researchers, academic staff, and students – experimenting, completing tasks, gaining new skills, and experiencing something unusual.

For the youngest researchers:

Montessori workshop: a practical and developmental environment where participants can discover the patterns of the world around them through touch, play, and independent activity.

Technology and laboratories: Virtual reality (VR) experiences and simulations: take a virtual journey and learn how VR technologies are used in research and design.

Interactive programme in the sound studio: discover acoustics, multichannel sound, and audio art.

Language, cultural space, and storytelling:

Research into regional vocabulary and semantics: explore the hidden layers of word meanings – what does local language reveal about the region’s identity and ways of thinking?

Presentation and discussion of the forthcoming book “Liepāja. Culture. Memory”: meet the authors of the publication, take part in a discussion about the city’s cultural and historical memory, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Creative space:

Illustration and visual storytelling workshop: discover how ideas and stories are transformed into visual images, and try your hand at the creative process.

The event programme will be supplemented and updated until the day of the event.

Field of science: Natural sciences, engineering and technology, social sciences, humanities and arts.

How to get there: Liepāja can be reached from other cities by intercity bus or train. The most convenient way to get from Liepāja Bus Station to RTU Liepāja Academy is by tram, getting off at the “Rožu laukums” stop.

Accessibility: Access is available for people with mobility impairments – the building is equipped with ramps and a lift. Guide dogs are permitted.

Event language: Latvian. If necessary, information can also be provided individually in English.

Registration: It is recommended to register by completing the online form. Starting from 24 August, a form for registering groups of school students will be available on the website.
