Webinar for BioPhoT Researchers Highlights Opportunities in European Translational Medicine
December 18, 2025
Riga, 11 December 2025, within the framework of the long-term national research programme project “Biomedical and Photonics Research Platform for the Development of Innovative Products” (BioPhoT), an informative webinar entitled “European Translational Medicine Infrastructure EATRIS-ERIC” was organised specifically for BioPhoT platform researchers. The webinar aimed to strengthen researchers’ understanding of European-level research infrastructures and their practical application in translational medicine research.
The webinar was organised by Rīga Stradiņš University within the project “RSU Participation in the Horizon Europe Programme” (No. 1.1.1.5/3/25/I/014). A total of 27 participants attended the event, primarily researchers involved in the BioPhoT platform working in the fields of biomedical sciences, medicine, diagnostics, and health technologies.
During the webinar, participants were introduced to EATRIS-ERIC, the European research infrastructure for translational medicine, which provides access to high-value-added services, expertise, and technologies aimed at accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice. Particular attention was paid to how BioPhoT platform researchers can utilise EATRIS-ERIC resources to advance their research and develop international collaborations
The webinar was led by Dr med. Zaiga Nora-Krūkle, National Node Coordinator of EATRIS in Latvia and Director of the Institute of Microbiology and Virology at RSU. In her presentation, she emphasised the importance of the translational approach in modern biomedical research and encouraged BioPhoT researchers to actively use the opportunities offered by EATRIS-ERIC to increase the impact and international competitiveness of their research.
The event concluded with a discussion and question-and-answer session, during which BioPhoT researchers had the opportunity to clarify access conditions to EATRIS-ERIC services and infrastructure.
