On 8 October 2025, the EIT Community Latvia will host the EIT National Day 2025 – a high-level event bringing together representatives from European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), government, academia, and industry to discuss Latvia’s achievements and collaborative results to date, and to outline future priorities for closer integration with Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, largest sector-specific innovation network, connecting over 2,400 partners from business, research, and education to accelerate solutions to Europe’s most pressing challenges.

For the period 2021 - 2024, Latvia has attracted 8.1 million euros in EIT funding, supported the growth of 215 startups and ventures - including success stories such as Aerones, CellboxLabs, PrintyMed, and more - engaged over 3,300 participants in education and training programmes, and brought 22 innovative products and services to market with EIT support. Latvia’s innovation ecosystem also benefits from 29 active KIC partner organisations across sectors such as health, urban mobility, digital innovation, food, and raw materials.

“EIT is currently the most engaged Horizon Europe mechanism in Latvia, offering relatively easy access to grants, early-venture support, and innovative product validation. Through the EIT Community Hub in Latvia, we can strategically build international links - connecting Latvian innovators with European industry, strengthening national deeptech support, de-risking R&D investments, and opening more pathways for startups, researchers, and industry to grow internationally," says Alina Dolmate, EIT Community Officer Latvia.

EIT National Day 2025 will highlight Latvia’s innovation results, explore future collaboration opportunities, and feature presentations from EIT’s sector-specific innovation communities.

Key sessions will address:

  • Innovation support – discussing ways to increase the number of innovations reaching the market by aligning EIT programmes with Latvia’s deeptech support ecosystem and national mechanisms.
  • Education and training – discussing how to expand participation of Latvian HEIs and RIs in EIT’s educational opportunities.
  • Business development and KIC collaboration – fostering partnerships and practical connections with EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities.

The agenda will also include high-level discussions on deeptech ecosystem development. By leveraging the EIT Community Hub as a strategic connection point, Latvia can build stronger international links, increase entrepreneurial capacity, and build a pipeline of high-impact ventures.

Latvian organisations and startups are invited to register and take part in matchmaking with KIC representatives to learn more about partnership opportunities, eligibility, and available support programmes.
