Online Workshop “Sports 360°: Research Findings for Better Sports Governance in Latvia”

On 28 October, from 10:00 to 13:30, the online workshop “Sports 360°: Research Findings for Better Sports Governance in Latvia” will take place, with researchers from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the University of Latvia (UL) participating. Participation in the workshop is free of charge, and representatives of municipalities, sports federations and organisations, as well as sports policymakers, are especially encouraged to attend.

At the workshop, researchers will present how the analysis of sports infrastructure and socioeconomic indicators can help assess the development needs of the sports sector. For example, data on the location and accessibility of sports facilities can help municipalities identify where infrastructure improvements are needed, while sports sector statistics can help better understand development trends and plan resources.

Professor Jānis Žīdens, Dr. paed., of the RSU Sports Academy will present work on an interactive database of sports indicators, designed to combine statistical and infrastructure information in a single solution. Participants will have the opportunity to ask researchers questions and discuss the practical use of these solutions.

The aim of the workshop is to promote cooperation between researchers and sports sector professionals so that research findings can become practical tools for sports governance. As a centre of competence in sports science, RSU is developing research-based solutions that help not only to improve athletes’ performance and safety, but also to build a more efficient and sustainable sports system in Latvia.

Registration: until 9:00 on 28 October. After registering, participants will receive an access link. Participants will be able to receive a certificate for four academic hours for attending the workshop, valid for recertification by the Latvian Council of Sports Federations (LSFP). Certificates will be sent to participants by 20 December.
