Seminar “Academic Ethics in Latvia: Results of a Survey of Researchers, Key Issues, and Potential Solutions”

On 21 January 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, a seminar titled “Academic Ethics in Latvia: Results of a Survey of Researchers, Key Issues, and Potential Solutions” will take place at the House of Science of the University of Latvia.

Leading researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences of the University of Latvia, KPMI — Signe Mežinska and Ivars Neiders — will present the results of a study conducted in 2025. The aim of the study was to explore Latvian researchers’ understanding of responsible research practice, its core principles, and how these norms are implemented in research.

Seminar participants will be introduced to both quantitative and qualitative survey data revealing the main challenges in the field of academic ethics in Latvia. In a joint discussion, potential solutions will be formulated, drawing on the experience of the BEYOND project implemented by KPMI and the ideas of the participants.
