Seminar “Beyond NACE Codes: What Data Reveals About Cultural NGOs and How AI Helped Us See It”

In a study on Latvia’s cultural and creative sector NGO ecosystem, we sought to uncover what official classifiers only partially reveal. By combining multiple data sources and conducting an in‑depth analysis of several thousand organisations, we developed a detailed sector profile — from fields of activity and territorial distribution to finances, employment, and capacity. The presentation will highlight both what these data reveal about cultural NGOs in Latvia and how artificial intelligence was used to process and structure the large volume of information.

About the seminar series

The seminar series “Discover What You Don’t Know!” is organised by the LKA Institute of Culture and Arts in cooperation with the LKA Continuing Education Centre, encouraging conversations about research and its diverse expressions within cultural and artistic contexts.

The aim of the seminars is to introduce research projects carried out by LKA researchers, foster discussions on applied methodologies and current research topics, and strengthen dialogue between the academic community and sector professionals.

The seminars are open to all interested participants and take place in person at the LKA Gara māja (Miera iela 58a, 2nd floor) on Thursday afternoons.
