bioeconomy collaboration

At the end of November, the second meeting of the participants of the Bioeconomy Memorandum took place at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry. The aim of the memorandum is to establish and maintain a new biorefining ecosystem, contributing significantly to the development of Latvia's bioeconomy.

The memorandum, signed on June 18, 2024, by 22 participants, stipulates that all stages of the biomass production value chain, from raw material acquisition to final product manufacturing, must take place in Latvia.

The memorandum serves as a foundation for national and international collaboration between companies, government institutions, higher education institutions, scientific institutions, and foundations, promoting the implementation of sustainable innovations. Regular meetings and communication among the memorandum participants reinforce the commitment to applying bioeconomy principles and enhance cross-sectoral cooperation.
