The Ministry of Education and Science invites policy makers and researchers to an in-person seminar on September 26 to collaboratively shape Latvia's position and discuss priorities for the upcoming European Union (EU) Research and Innovation Framework Programme “Horizon Europe 2028–2034.” Uz pasākumu aicināti zinātnieki, zinātnisko institūciju pārstāvji, uzņēmēji, politikas veidotāji, kā arī ikviens interesents, kurš vēlas dot savu ieguldījumu Latvijas zinātnes nākotnē. The event is open to scientists, representatives of research institutions, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and anyone interested in contributing to the future of Latvian science. Online pre-registration is open until September 19.
The seminar will take place on Friday, September 26, from 9:00 to 12:30 at Riga Technical University (RTU), Ķīpsalas iela 8, Riga.
Speakers will include Aleksandrs M. Blūms, Research and Space Affairs Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the EU, and Jānis Paiders, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The seminar will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to get acquainted with the European Commission’s (EC) proposal for the content of the next programme. Participants will engage in discussions on Latvia’s strengths and challenges in science and innovation. The insights gathered will contribute to forming Latvia’s national position.
As is known, the EC has proposed an ambitious €175 billion budget for Horizon Europe 2028–2034. The programme aims to strengthen the EU’s scientific and technological base while promoting the green and digital transitions, sustainable development, competitiveness, and innovation.
