Latvian Council of Science Exhibition “Science Street”

About event
Description

From September 25 to October 22, an open-air exhibition “Science Street” will be on display in Riga, Torņa Street. This is a unique opportunity for everyone interested to discover the achievements of Latvian scientists within the State Research Programmes (SRP) and to see how science influences our daily lives – health, work, environment, language, security, and quality of life.

The exhibition will be located on one of Riga’s central pedestrian streets, making it accessible daily to a wide audience – both Riga residents and visitors.

Location: Riga, Torņa Street Dates: 25.09.–22.10.2025

“Science Street” showcases selected, remarkable results of the work carried out by researchers within the State Research Programmes, administered by the Latvian Council of Science, which have a tangible impact on each of our lives. At Science Street, we will present what scientists have achieved in several SRP projects completed in 2024 and 2025.

How are State Research Programmes developed?

  • The state, through the responsible sectoral ministries, identifies specific needs for society, the economy, development, sustainability, security, and other nationally important areas.
  • The task of finding solutions to these needs is assigned to Latvian scientists through the SRP.
  • Latvian scientists research and search for suitable solutions based on data, tests, innovations, and scientific inquiry.
  • As a society, we gain new knowledge, skills, and innovations – new products, processes, and services to solve problems in specific sectors and achieve strategic development goals.

Scientific achievements can appear in the places we least expect them – from the technologies we use to safety and health, and even to the food we enjoy.

The opening of “Science Street” on September 25 will serve as the symbolic start of the information campaign “Science and Your Life”. Over the course of three months, until December, the campaign will highlight the benefits of the State Research Programmes, visit scientists, bring science closer to the public, and together explore the latest solutions, discoveries, and their importance for society.
