The Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) is pleased to announce that DAIF Latvia, the main organization representing Latvia’s security and defence industry, has joined as a member. With this step, ASD further strengthens its engagement across Europe, adding an important perspective to its growing network.
DAIF Latvia plays a key role in coordinating Latvia’s defence industry and scientific sectors, both nationally and internationally. From active involvement in the NATO Industrial Advisory Group and the European Defence Agency, to cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DEFIS), DAIF Latvia exemplifies strategic action in a complex geopolitical landscape. The federation also builds bilateral relations with peer institutions across and beyond Europe, fostering cross-border innovation and collaboration.
ASD Secretary General Jan Pie welcomed the Board's decision, saying:
“Latvia is an increasingly important player in Europe’s security and defence landscape. The inclusion of DAIF Latvia strengthens not only our geographic scope but also our collective industrial intelligence.”
Elīna Egle, Chair of the Board of DAIF Latvia, emphasized:
“The security and defence of the European Union is the responsibility of its member states and every citizen. I believe that security is a verb. ASD brings together the doers – industry and national defence industry associations. Since 2013, DAIF Latvia has been uniting, representing, and driving the industry forward in our country. The geopolitical reality urges industry leaders to work together – only this way can we confront new global challenges.”

Their participation enhances our ability to represent industry interests across institutions, borders, and operational realities.”
With DAIF Latvia’s membership, ASD further solidifies its role as the voice of the entire European industrial ecosystem, representing over 4,000 companies. As new challenges arise and strategic priorities evolve, the inclusion of partners like DAIF Latvia ensures that our collective voice remains not only representative but also resilient, responsive, and deeply rooted in Europe’s industrial and geopolitical landscape.
