Climate Days 2026 – a festival for students

On 27 March, the Riga Technical University (RTU) student campus in Ķīpsala will host the “Climate Days 2026” festival for students, offering a wide and engaging programme of activities focused on environmental issues and energy efficiency, as well as an awards ceremony for the most climate‑friendly student teams in Riga.

Everyone interested is invited – students, their parents, teachers, and anyone wishing to learn more about climate topics. Attendance and all activities are free of charge, with prior registration required.

The festival will begin at 10:00 in the RTU auditorium centre Domus Auditorialis, Zunda krastmala 8. It is organised by RTU, the Riga Municipality, and the Riga Energy Agency. The main partner of the event is the Latvian environmental services company CleanR Grupa, while Latvijas Finieris and the association Latvijas koks provide additional support. Their contributions will allow visitors to take part in interactive stands aimed at improving environmental literacy – learning to sort waste, protect nature, recognise greenwashing, and participate in workshops related to sustainable materials and energy efficiency.

The festival programme will be enriched with competitions, various activities, and creative workshops open to all climate enthusiasts. The RTU Children and Youth University will introduce participants to the field of maritime studies, offering hands‑on experiences with specialised equipment and engineering‑themed workshops. Meanwhile, at the stand of the Swiss–Latvian cooperation programme Applied Research (project LACHMAT), students will be encouraged to think about sustainable and environmentally friendly road and building construction through games and interactive tasks.

To explore a virtual‑reality experience of a renovated Riga neighbourhood, students will be able to visit the stand of the RTU Institute of Environmental Protection and Heat Systems. The organisers have also planned a variety of surprises to ensure that every visitor can fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the climate festival.
