From a Physicist to Physicists – a Quantum Seminar with Professor Viacheslav Kaščejev

About event

To mark the Year of Quantum Science and Technology and the centenary of quantum mechanics celebrated in 2025, all interested participants are warmly invited to a scientific seminar on Werner Heisenberg’s quantum-mechanical equations, led by tenured Professor Viacheslav Kaščejev of the University of Latvia, Faculty of Exact Sciences and Technology. The seminar will take place on 10 December at 14:30 in Room 501 of the House of Science.

The seminar will consist of two parts. The first part will feature a lecture by Professor Kaščejev on Werner Heisenberg’s 1925 article in Zeitschrift für Physik, in which the correct equations of quantum mechanics were written down for the first time in human history. The second part will be a Q&A session, where younger physics students are especially encouraged to ask questions on topics that spark their curiosity.

No prior knowledge of quantum physics is required to attend the seminar; however, a genuine interest in understanding Heisenberg’s original scientific arguments in their historical context is welcome. The event lasts up to 2 hours, and you can attend only the lecture portion.

To help us estimate the number of participants, please fill out the registration form by 8 December.

The seminar is organised by the Student Council of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Technology of the University of Latvia in cooperation with the Latvian Quantum Initiative.
