In 2025, Latvia will host the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) — the most prestigious scientific research competition for students in Europe. Riga will welcome around 150 young, aspiring researchers from 40 countries, who will present their innovative projects to an international panel of experts and the general public from September 15 to 20.

EUCYS is organized by the European Commission in cooperation with national organizers from participating countries. In Latvia, the event is hosted by the State Education Development Agency.

This will be the first time Latvia hosts this high-level educational event, offering students, educators, scientists, and policymakers a unique opportunity to engage in a broad international network and share knowledge and experiences.

Goals of EUCYS 2025:
  • To inspire young researchers to pursue careers in science and technology;
  • To promote the importance of STEAM education;
  • To foster innovation, sustainable thinking, and international collaboration;
  • To strengthen Latvia’s image as a progressive and open hub for science and innovation.

In addition to project presentations, the event will feature educational lectures, creative workshops, cultural activities, and networking events that will offer participants an unforgettable experience and valuable connections.

The contest is co-funded by the European Commission and the Latvian state budget.

Latvian students, teachers, and science enthusiasts are invited to attend the event!
