ESA course "Teach with Exoplanets: Discover Distant Planets for Education"
About event
The European Space Agency offers courses for educators to integrate exoplanet topics into teaching
The European Space Agency (ESA) course “Teach with Exoplanets: Discover Distant Planets for Education” introduces teachers and educators to exoplanets and demonstrates how exoplanet science can be integrated into teaching across various subjects, including mathematics and physics. The course is suitable for educators working with students aged 10–19 and does not require any prior knowledge of space science.
The course is organised into three modules: the first module covers the essentials of exoplanets, the second module explains how to apply exoplanet science in classroom settings, and the third is an optional module for those who wish to explore the topic further at their own pace.
A webinar will also take place on 16 April from 17:30 to 18:30 CEST. The course organisers recommend completing Module 1, “Learn: Exoplanet Essentials”, before attending the webinar. At the end of the course, participants may complete an optional final assignment.
By completing this course, teachers and educators will be able to:
Understand the essentials of exoplanet science, including different methods of detection;
Explore ESA educational activities and resources suitable for classroom use;
Integrate exoplanet science and real ESA space data into teaching activities;
Use exoplanet science as a context to make STEM content more engaging for students.
