Europe Day in Latvia

On 9 May, Europe Day is celebrated throughout Europe and also in Latvia. These festivities unite people in a shared understanding of peace, democracy and cooperation, which for more than seven decades have formed the foundation of the European Union.

Europe Day in Latvia will be marked with a variety of events across the country – discussions, concerts, educational activities and community initiatives that allow people to learn more about the European Union, its values and opportunities.

Event programme [LV] 

Visit the tent of the Ministry of Education and Science and the State Education Development Agency, SEE FURTHER – “I choose vocational education”, on Saturday, 9 May, from 11:00 to 18:00 in Vērmanes Garden in Riga, and discover vocational education opportunities in an interactive and engaging way!

The event will offer the opportunity to explore the diversity of vocational education, its importance in today’s labour market, and the contribution of European Union funds to the learning process and infrastructure of vocational education.

Everyone interested will be able to explore career planning tools, the NIID.LV education opportunities database, and the portal profesijupasaule.lv, as well as learn about the opportunities offered by the European Union’s education, training, youth and sport programme Erasmus+ in vocational education.

Visitors will also have the chance to take part in interactive activities led by young people from Riga’s vocational education institutions to get hands‑on experience with different professions and skills.

The event will feature participation from the Riga School of Art and Media, Riga Technical College, Riga Vocational Secondary School of Metalworking, the National Art School (Riga Ballet School), and Riga State Technical School.
