Field day at the AREI Priekuļi Research Centre

AREI invites farmers, rural consultants, industry specialists, and other interested parties to the field day at the AREI Priekuļi Research Centre, where this year particular emphasis will be placed on the importance of local varieties, seed production, and cultivation technologies for Latvia’s food security.
Food security begins with varieties adapted to local conditions, proven cultivation solutions, high‑quality seeds, sustainable farming, and knowledge‑based decision‑making.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to ознакомиться with the latest research and practical solutions in field crop cultivation, including:
- soil degradation issues;
- innovations and digitalisation in agriculture within the “AgriExcel” project;
- the importance of potato varieties and farming systems for food quality;
- the latest field crop varieties bred in Latvia;
- winter and spring barley varieties for organic farming;
- new developments in potato breeding;
- the potential of intercrops and microbiological preparations in weed control in peas.
During the event, photos and videos will be taken; the materials may be used for AREI publicity.
