International conference “Baltic-Nordic-Ukrainian Workshop on Survey Statistics 2026”

The University of Latvia, in cooperation with the Central Statistical Bureau and the Latvian Statistical Association, is organizing the international conference “Baltic-Nordic-Ukrainian Workshop on Survey Statistics 2026”, which will take place on August 24–28 of this year in Riga, at the University of Latvia House of Science.
The conference will bring together researchers, experts, and early-career specialists from the Baltic States, Nordic countries, and Ukraine in the field of official statistics and sample surveys.
The thematic areas of the conference are:
- Sample survey design: stratification, clustering, multistage and rotational sampling;
- Adaptive and responsive survey designs and modern data collection strategies;
- Sampling frames, coverage diagnostics, and frame maintenance;
- Nonresponse mechanisms, response propensity modeling, and the use of paradata;
- Survey estimation methods: weighting, calibration, model-based estimation, variance estimation;
- Missing data treatment: imputation and machine learning approaches;
- Integration of survey data with administrative registers and alternative data sources;
- Data integration, combining probability and non-probability samples;
- Small domain estimation, spatial methods, and domain estimation;
- Applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in official statistics;
- Automated workflows and reproducible processes in survey production;
- Quality assessment, total survey error, and methodological challenges in modern survey statistics.
In addition to a broad scientific program, a rich social program will also be offered, allowing participants to experience both the cultural and historical heritage of Riga and its modern charm.
