About event

On 5 June this year, the Ministry of Education and Science, within the EU‑co‑funded project INSPIRE, is organising an international Peer Learning Activity titled “From Student Campus to Community: Developing Inclusive Higher Education through Societal Engagement.”

The event is dedicated to the principle of community engagement, highlighting the role of higher education institutions in collaborating with local communities, non‑governmental organisations, schools, employers and other partners to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

The event will bring together 57 participants from various countries of the European Higher Education Area. Participants will explore international, national and institutional examples, discuss the importance of cooperation between higher education and society, and share experiences on how community engagement can help reduce inequalities and improve access to higher education.

The INSPIRE project (Inclusive National Strategies for the Implementation of EHEA Principles for the Social Dimension) aims to support the implementation of social dimension principles within the European Higher Education Area by promoting peer learning, exchange of experience and evidence‑based policy development. The project is led by the coordinators of the EHEA Thematic Working Group on the Social Dimension from Latvia (Ministry of Education and Science), Malta (Malta Further and Higher Education Authority), and the European Students’ Union, together with partners from Austria (Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna) and Croatia (Institute for the Development of Education).
