International Scientific Conference "Beyond Words: (Inter)lingual Reflections in Practice"

The Faculty of Translation Studies of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VeA) invites you to participate in the international scientific conference “Beyond Words: (Inter)lingual Reflections in a Practice”, which will take place on 9–10 October 2025 in Ventspils (Latvia). The conference is planned to be organized every two years in cooperation with the Institute of Linguistics and the Faculty of Humanities of the Jan Długosza University (Uniwersytet Jana Długosza, Poland).

The conference is dedicated to a wide range of topics in translation science and applied linguistics.

Conference topics:

• Translation science and translation, especially in relation to applied and fiction texts;
• Applied linguistics, especially terminology, lexicography and terminography;
• Text linguistics – intra- and interlingual aspects;
• Grammar – intra- and interlingual aspects;
• Linguistic aspects of cultural studies;
• Cultural aspects of linguistic research;
• Sociolinguistics;
• Diachronic linguistics;
• Modern technology in the context of linguistic/translation studies;
• Editing and post-editing;
• Simple/easy language;
• Language acquisition.

The abstract in the application should be 2000-2500 characters.

Duration of the presentation: 15 min. + 5 min. for discussion.

Selected articles will be published in an edition after review, which is indexed in the Scopus database.
