Online Discussion by the University of Latvia: "And What Will You Do Next Year?"

About event
To help everyone create new life plans for the upcoming year, the University of Latvia (UL) invites you to an online discussion, "And What Will You Do Next Year?" on Thursday, December 5th, at 5:00 PM. The event's theme is "The Best Decision – Learning!" Investing in your growth is the best investment, whether it’s pursuing a long-considered master’s degree, taking professional development courses to boost your career, or embarking on a discovery-filled journey in science.
Education offerings and formats are evolving rapidly today. Alongside traditional academic education, professional development programs are gaining prominence, and science is moving beyond laboratories, transforming innovations into real products and services. The UL discussion series "And What Will You Do Next Year?" aims to help anyone interested in choosing the most suitable educational direction and format.
The first live session on UL's Facebook and YouTube channels will feature discussions about how students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and educators can use various study formats for professional growth – from lifelong learning courses to master's studies and hands-on doctoral research.
Kristaps Jaudzems, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences at UL, will present LU's diverse study offerings, from master's to doctoral studies, from micro-certifications to professional development courses. UL psychology master's student Liene Linde will share how her master's studies became a significant turning point in her career.
Edgars Lediņš, Chairman of the Board of "Latvijas Loto," will discuss his transition from a business management education to studying biology and ornithology. Anna Bausova from UL's Professional Development Academy will introduce LU’s innovation – micro-certification courses, explaining their purpose, essence, and benefits for participants.
UL alumnus and "Indexo" Chairman of the Board, Valdis Siksnis, will offer an employer’s perspective on education – how to help employees develop and acquire new skills.
The discussion will be hosted by LU Radio NABA personality Linards Kalniņš.
Participation in all events of the discussion series is free. Those interested are encouraged to register here: https://ej.uz/regmlu. Questions for the panelists can be submitted before and during the event here: https://ej.uz/qmlu.
