Seminar: “The European Green Deal and Its Scenarios”

On December 20 at 11:00 AM (duration approximately two hours), a seminar titled “The European Green Deal and Its Scenarios” will take place at the Ministry of Agriculture (23rd-floor hall), organized by researchers from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU).

The seminar is part of the State Research Programme “Exploration and Sustainable Use of Local Resources for Latvia’s Development” (2023–2025) under Project No. VPP-ZM-VRIIILA-2024/1-0002, titled “Scientifically Based Solutions for a Sustainable Food System to Achieve the Goals of the European Green Deal (GreenAgroRes).” The project’s overarching goal is to develop knowledge and create scientifically grounded solutions for the sustainable and rational use of Latvia’s natural resources, enhancing their added value amid changing socioeconomic, environmental, and climate conditions.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the research methodology, which includes data on the competitiveness of Latvian agriculture and mapping sustainable practices. Insights will also be provided on innovative solutions based on the principles of environmental protection, circular economy, and resource efficiency.

Key Topics of the Seminar:

  • Research methodology (data selection, progress period, calculation of mapping indicators).
  • Assessment of Latvian agriculture's competitiveness in the context of the European Green Deal goals (and its related strategies).
  • Methodological framework for mapping agricultural practices.
